Thanks to historical author Jessie Childs mentioning ‘Blighty Thank God’ during one of the UK’s leading history podcasts there was a holiday season jump in downloads to over 2000.
Jessie kindly recommended my podcast during the ‘Battleground: Christmas Special’ episode where fellow authors and hosts Saul David and Patrick Bishop led a discussion on their standout history books of 2024.
As one of the guests, Jessie said she’d listened to the podcast having found it as part of her research into the crash that killed her grandfather – described in Episode 1 ‘ Death in Winter’.
My father took part in the search operation for the missing plane Stephen Childs was on. His flight left the Iranian capital of Tehran in January 1943 in appalling weather. A discussion with Jessie was turned into an extra episode of Blighty Thank God called – ‘ Sex. Spies and Lies’.
Jessie’s ‘plug’ on a podcast avidly followed by thousands of history fans led to an increase in the steady number of downloads from people all around the world who have discovered the stories highlighted in ‘Blighty Thank God’.
